Neurogenx

Neurogenx for Diabetic neuropathy

Neurogenx Neuropathy Treatment in Rowlett, Sherman & Greenville, TX

Burning, tingling or numb feet can make it hard to walk, work or sleep. Dallas Pain Institute now offers Neurogenx, a non-surgical, drug-free treatment for neuropathy pain. It is available at our Rowlett, Sherman and Greenville clinics, serving patients across North Dallas and North Texas.

Neurogenx uses an FDA-cleared medical device to deliver electrical signals to irritated nerves. Treatment takes place right in our office. There is no surgery, no implant and no recovery time. For many patients with diabetic or peripheral neuropathy, it adds a conservative option between medications and more invasive procedures.

How Does Neurogenx Treat Neuropathy?

Neurogenx treats neuropathy by sending electrical signals through the skin to damaged nerves, with the goal of calming pain signals and improving comfort. It is designed for nerve pain that hasn’t responded well to medication, or for patients who want to rely less on pills.

During treatment, electrodes are placed on the skin over the affected area, usually the feet, legs or hands. The Neurogenx device then delivers a wide range of electrical frequencies to the nerves. According to the manufacturer, this waveform differs from a standard TENS unit, which uses a narrower, lower range of frequencies.

The device is FDA-cleared for the symptomatic relief and management of chronic, intractable pain. Patients often seek it for:

  • Burning or “pins and needles” sensations
  • Tingling or electric-like shooting pain
  • Numbness or cold-feeling feet and hands
  • Balance problems linked to reduced feeling in the feet
  • Trouble sleeping because of foot or leg pain

Neurogenx may be considered for neuropathy from several causes, including diabetic peripheral neuropathy, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy and other chronic nerve pain conditions. Your provider will confirm your diagnosis first.

Who May Be a Good Candidate for Neurogenx?

Neurogenx may be worth discussing with a Dallas Pain Institute provider if you:

  • Have burning, tingling, numbness or sharp pain in your feet, legs or hands
  • Have diabetic neuropathy or neuropathy after chemotherapy
  • Haven’t gotten enough relief from nerve pain medications, or struggle with side effects
  • Want a non-surgical option before considering an implanted device such as a spinal cord stimulator

Neurogenx is not right for everyone. It is generally not recommended during pregnancy or for patients with certain implanted devices, such as demand-type pacemakers, defibrillators or spinal cord stimulators. Your provider will review your health history before recommending treatment.

What Is the Neurogenx Treatment Process?

Neurogenx is given as a series of short, in-office sessions over several weeks. Here is what to expect at Dallas Pain Institute:

#1. Consultation and exam. A provider reviews your symptoms, health history and past treatments. You may have sensation, circulation and balance testing to confirm neuropathy and set a baseline.

#2. Personalized treatment plan. If Neurogenx is a good fit, your provider explains how many sessions you’ll need and how often. Plans are commonly 16 to 24 sessions over 8 to 16 weeks.

#3. Treatment sessions. You sit or recline comfortably while electrodes are placed on the treatment area. Each session typically lasts about 25 to 50 minutes. Some plans add a small local anesthetic injection near the nerve during early visits.

#4. Progress checks. Your provider re-checks your symptoms during your plan and adjusts treatment as needed.

#5. Follow-up. After your final session, follow-up visits track how your symptoms hold up over time.

Most people return to normal activities right after each visit. Your provider may suggest resting your feet for a few hours afterward. Some patients notice temporary discomfort as feeling returns to numb areas.
